Understanding Sets vs Locations
This is an important distinction in Martin:
Sets
Sets are extracted directly from your script's scene headings.
Example scene heading: `INT. JOY'S HOUSE - DAY`
- Set name: "JOY'S HOUSE"
- INT/EXT: Interior
- Time: DAY
Sets represent narrative locations in your story.
Locations
Locations are physical filming addresses that you enter manually.
Example: "Central Park, New York, NY 10024"
Locations represent where you'll actually film.
### Connecting Sets to Locations
One physical location can host multiple sets:
- Location: "123 Main Street, Los Angeles"
- Set: "JOY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN"
- Set: "JOY'S HOUSE - BEDROOM"
- Set: "NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE"
In the Scenes tab, click Edit Scene to connect a scene's set to a physical filming location.
