WHAT YOU SEE IN THE SETS TAB

The Sets tab is where you manage all the places in your story - both where scenes take place in the script AND where you'll actually film. This is one of the most essential tabs for planning your production.

YOUR SETS LIST

All the places from your script:

SET NAME
The location from the scene heading
Example: "JOY'S HOUSE", "DOWNTOWN STREET", "POLICE STATION"

INT/EXT
Is it inside (INT) or outside (EXT)?

DAY/NIGHT
Does it happen during the day or at night in the story?

SCRIPT PAGE COUNT
How many pages take place at this set. We combine all of the 1/8ths of a page to give the total.

LINKED FILMING LOCATION
The real-world address (if you've assigned one)

Martin pulls sets automatically from your script's scene headings when you upload.

HOW MARTIN FINDS SETS

FROM SCENE HEADINGS

When you upload a script, Martin reads every scene heading:

INT. JOY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY

Set: "JOY'S HOUSE"

EXT. DOWNTOWN STREET - NIGHT

Set: "DOWNTOWN STREET"

COMBINING RELATED SETS

Martin is smart about this. If your script has:

INT. JOY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY
INT. JOY'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT
INT. JOY'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Martin will group these as "JOY'S HOUSE" (one set, multiple rooms)

COMMON QUESTIONS

"WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY SETS?"

If your script has:
- INT. JOY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY
- INT. JOY'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT
- INT. JOY'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - DAY

Martin might create separate sets for each variation. You can:
- Group or Merge them
- Keep them separate for scheduling purposes

"WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW THE FILMING LOCATION YET?"

That's fine! Leave it blank until you do. You can add it later. The set still exists and tracks the scenes - you just haven't linked it to a real address yet.

"A SET NAME IS WRONG"

Click Edit Set and change the 'Display name'. All scenes will update automatically.

"HOW DO I HANDLE LOCATION CHANGES?"

If you were going to film at 123 Main St but now you're filming at 456 Oak Ave:
1. Edit the set by clicking EDIT in the ellipsis menu.
2. Create a new location or chose a different existing location.

3. Click SAVE

All scenes linked to those sets will reflect the change.
